Today marks 30 years since John Lennon died.  The loss is immeasurable.  Interestingly, one thing I learned recently from the podcasts centered around PBS’ LENNONYC program is that some of the songs that ended up on Milk and Honey were written with Ringo in mind - with the intent to also get George and Paul to write some tunes for him.
If you missed the show, you can watch it at PBS.org here.  I also highly recommend the podcasts, which feature riveting uncut interviews with people like Jack Douglas (producer of John’s last 2 LPs) and Bob Gruen (the photographer who took the iconic shots of Lennon at the Statue of Liberty and in his “NEW YORK CITY” t-shirt).  Great stuff.
