The Life magazine tumblr posted this photo… and I instantly recognized it as the basis for the Avalon Ballroom poster for a show by the 13th Floor Elevators: life: Light beams create a contour map of a human head during an Air Force study of jet-pilot helmets. Originally published, as the cover image, on the December 6, 1954, issue of LIFE. (see more here)
