Did you know?

That, after stealing and cremating the body of Gram Parsons, his manager - Phil Kaufman - was sentenced to pay damages for the coffin ($708) and a $300 fine for bodysnatching.

TO PAY THE FINE, Kaufman threw himself a party: Kaufman’s Koffin Kaper Koncert.

  • the DJ was Dr. Demento
  • homemade beer labels were created that read “Gram Pilsner: a stiff drink for what ales you”
  • live music was provided by Bobby “Boris” Pickett and the Crypt Kickers (the band that recorded Monster Mash)
  • and also by another band Kaufman was managing: Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers

I will admit, I did not know of this until I stumbled upon it here.
